Social Social Social

I haven't been able to blog for awhile because I've been working on a social media plan for The Boys & Girls Club of the South Puget Sound. Its main emphasis was on creating a Facebook presence and had a lot to do with creating a Page. So after about 1000 screen shots and hours of editing and revising I’ve finished. I really enjoyed doing the project and want to do more in the future.

There are so many companies that need to have a presence on social media sights that aren’t already. It can provide free marketing and help grow a company in a matter of weeks. 25 percent of Ford’s marketing is done on social media sites and Starbucks perfected their instant coffee “Via” by using customer feedback on Twitter to create their recipe.

But companies can’t be one sided anymore with their marketing. If they are going to market through social media sites, then they have to be “Social.” Meaning they have to participate in conversations on social media sites and respond to customers who are asking questions about products. Companies can’t wait for customers to find them anymore; Customers are waiting for companies to find them. Social media is a great tool if done right, but must be maintained and updated frequently.

I hope to guide more companies and organizations into starting a social media presence in the future.  Its something that is not optional anymore if you want to stay ahead of the competition today.
